Food 4 Thought: STRENGTH

Food 4 thought

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isiah 40: 29-31, NIV) Continue reading

Clear the Stage…….AGAIN!

ImageWhen I wrote the first post with this title, I actually didn’t plan on writing a part two. However after reading Ezekiel 8 this afternoon, I was challenged even more to clear the stage of my life from the MANY distractions that plague it.

Here’s the story (aren’t you glad I didn’t say “skinny”??? lol), the leaders and some people of Israel were worshiping false idols in God’s temple *cat’s face = my initial reaction*.  Continue reading

It’s Not an Easy Road

This past week found me reflecting on my walk with God. In all honesty I wasn’t happy with where I was. I kept looking towards to goal of holiness and thinking about the many times I have missed the mark. I thought “will I ever be holy?” “will I ever be at that place where God wants me to be?” Continue reading

Hey! What are you eating?

My sister-in-law loves to annoy me when I am eating. I can always depend on her to walk up to me, look directly in my plate and ask in her squeaky little voice “hey! what are you eating?”Now I am so used to it, that it no longer annoys me. However I wanna flip the script a bit and ask you the same question “What are you eating?”. No! I am not talking about the chicken you ate for dinner or the sandwich you had for lunch. Instead what are you feeding your spirit? Continue reading

Food 4 Thought: Trials

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4)

These verses really speak to me when I am going through a rough period . They are not  saying that in the midst of your struggles you should smile and celebrate. In truth even Jesus expressed grief before His crucifixion (Matt 26:36-44). Continue reading

What Hilary Banks and I have in Common

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is one of my all-time favourite sitcoms. From Carlton’s dancing, Will’s antics to Jeffery’s sarcasm I can’t seem to get enough. However I never expected that God would use an episode of this secular sitcom to further cement something that He has been trying to get me to understand for quite some time. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but hear me out. Continue reading

Food 4 Thought: Worship

Recently God used Amos 5, particularly verses 21-24 to help me to have a better understanding of the essence of WORSHIP. You see, the people of Israel were offering God worship that was insincere and there was plenty of sin taking place in the land. This angered God and He HATED their worship (Amos 5:21-23). Their music was noise to Him (v23), their burnt offerings were meaningless (v22) and their assembling together was a STENCH (v21b). Continue reading
